Well I have found a new blogger presentation through word press. I will be switching over to that soon but thought i would leave this here for a little while longer.

Updates to the site have been made. I am wanting to update much more and give the site an overhaul and make it look smoother with anew navigation system and i want to get away from the frames aspect. But Time is limited so bear with me in the site updates. I am wanting a template that i can just update once and all the pages receive the update. I do not know how to do this but I am researching how to do it. Until then you can see my blog at

Funnel over Warsaw, IN This was the western most supercell that split and went north. The base is obscured by trees and rain. But it was a beautiful display of color. This was taken just south west of Rochester, IN.

This image was taken after the possible tornado definite funnel. It has some nice structure with a some what upside down wedding cake resemblance.
Funnel over Warsaw, IN

It was producing a nice block wall cloud and a few narrow funnels as it went over our position now NE of Rochester by a few miles. Wall Cloud east of Athens, IN

Around 8pm This funnel was over Warsaw IN. Possible touchdown was reported but unconfirmed. My picture was also placed in the IWX survey page. IWX NWS Napannee tornado

I wish I had stopped sooner farther south to get structure and lightning shots. I wanted to try to intercept the storm were the TVS and shear markers were just south of school craft, MI. But I was able to find an open field and take some nice shots of the northern portion of the cell. I tried to get the wall cloud that was to my south but there was not enough lighting to illuminate this feature to capture on film.

(pre-exsiting report 10/20/07)

As David Diehl and My self chased in Indiana. We intercepted two supercells that came out of Lafayette, IN. We Observed some nice rotating wall clouds and some nice striations on both supercells. Just before it became dark we observed a large funnel possible tornado but cannot confirm so will leave it at that. I have some video that I will look at later and maybe post if it is worth it. We had to play catch up to this storm and as we approached the south side of Warsaw, IN. We observed a large cone funnel under lit by the city lights.

Soon after we had to break off from the supercell which later developed ahead of the line and caused tornadoes near Lansing. On my way home I intercepted a tornado warned supercell in St. Joseph county. As I was driving north I could see some nicely stacked plates and a wall cloud. As I approached School Craft I witnessed a beautiful shelf cloud.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Eric Nyugens Gathering on the 22 of September. A class of mine has an event that I cannot miss. I want to deeply go and personally give my condolences to those that new him best. Just being able to be in the presence of those grieving the most can make an impact on them. It lets then know you care and empathies with them. Whether you say anything at all or just being able to be there for someone is priceless.

God Bless all.

Wish i could be there. I will be there in spirit.

Today is a sad day as news of a fellow chaser passing away has come. All I have is fond memories during chases and looking at his photography. He was a pleasant man to know and learn from. I was searching through his storm documentation from 2005, June 28. He had posted a picture he shot of a LP supercell with Scott Blair and myself shooting video and stills in the foreground.

Storm Track Response

I remember meeting up with Scott Blair, Scott Currens, and Eric in Watertown, SD. We decided to head to Montana that day for the day afters set up. We stopped at Mobridge, SD. I remember Eric filling weather balloons and we stopped by a few herds of cows and floated balloons over them. The thrill was to watch them stampede away when the balloons popped. Continuing on to MT we had a few super balls with us and the lead car would toss one out and those following would try to hit them at 90mph or so. WE then made it to the ND SD border and we played a game we called Bouncy balls. It was Scott Blair and Eric, verses Scott Currens and myself. That was awesome. Just a few small fond memories.

He will greatly be missed. Thoughts and Prayers go out for the family and friends.

Many Blessings

I headed south on 131 to Kzoo and then east over to 69 south.

(Looking South as I was headed to I-69 south.)

I punched the leading edge of the core with about dime size hail. Then I got off at Kinderhook where i witnessed some dust on the ground going all the way up to area of rotation in a ragged wall cloud. As seen in the beginning of the video. I think it was just RFD but i cannot rule out a tornado. But i will just leave it be, because i was not close enough to see any debris swirl on the ground. I was able to stop breifly and witnessed a nice long rope funnel for about 1 minute. shortly after the dust.

(Long rope funnel)

Also noted an area of elevated rotation

Nice clear slot with a brief funnel.

Then about 2 minutes later another pronounced funnel developed (seen near the end of the video.)

The Best Bachelor Party Ever

February 24, 2007 Johnson CO. Missouri near the town of Holden. The guys (Daryl Winger, David Diehl, Bob Hartig) and I witnessed a brief tornado North of Holden MO. I thought the had day had gone to crap after getting stuck in the mud. But I think it was best we were stuck in the mud in Romana KS. Thank you to the firefighters who pulled us out. It looked like a tractor pull from my view point. We tried to catch up to the Marion Co. Storm but we decided to head east and see what we could get. After every thing turned to junk we stopped in KC for a brief regrouping and decided to head east back toward home as we saw a small cell south of KC and if it held together we might intercept what was left. As we approached Blue Springs, MO. The last radar scan looked very weak. So I personally was getting bummed and thought that the effort was useless. About 5 minutes later a tornado warning was issued for the cell just south of us. So we darted south and intercepted a nice lowering and finally tornado, In Johnson Co. MO. After we returned to the Interstate we fueled up and witnessed a beautiful sunset and rainbow.

It was an awesome bachelor party man.

Thank you Dick M. For letting us stay in your basement the night before.

12 days till I get married whoo hoo.

Tomorrow Looks to be a some what decsent day. Andrew and I are currently in St. Jo’s MO. My primary target looks to be Mason City and a few others agree of this location. So i am feeling a bit mor confident. The SPC also highlights the target with a 10% for tornadoe i just hope that that stays and the dews and temps are realized. So will see what tomorrow brings.
