My mom, my two older children and myself along with several other people were helping to clean up after the "strawberry festival" when we heard there was a storm on its way. We made it to the firestation before the tornado hit. I could believe what I saw when I walked out of the firestation. Our historic town was destroyed, but no one was even hurt and that is what is important.
I don't know how you do what you do, but you do a good job of it. Thank you for sharing your video with us.

Hello,
I have to say the photographs that you have here are amazing for one and I'm trying to find out if the person name Kurt from this sit is the gentleman that I meet last night, is in fact the same gentleman that was taking photographs of the lighting from the storm that hit Southwest Michigan?

Nick indeed it is, this is the same dude you met on the corner overlooking the field east of Allegan. I posted my shots from last night finally. Some amazing shots, some of the best this year for me. Some of the best for my chase career.

http://midwestchasers.com/blog2/2010/07/july-22-2010-allegan-mi-supercell-and-lightning/

It was good to meet you. You can reach me at this email account mwchaser1@yahoo.com. Was that your wife or girl friend that was with you?

Peace.

I am glad to hear there were no injuries. It will take sometime for the town of Elmwood to recover I am sure. I am happy to hear the effort that people have made to aid in the recovery. Again I am praying for all of you.

I have watched the video from last Satuday,June 5, 2010 of the tornado in the Yates City/Elmwood area----many times---in fasination. The tornado came through north of YC---about three-block lengths from our house! Then ripped into Elmwood--wiped out the historical downtown. "The Palace Lives On!" has its' own page on FB. Donations/fundraisers are already in motion to save the original vaudeville stage/movie theatre, built in 1913. The other buildings were put up between 1820 - 1845. Something interesting: an F-5 blew through here and Elmwood last June 18, 2009 during the night-----stayed above the trees, twisted and destroyed them! No loss of life in either event.

It can be a scary situation especially if your home is in the path. I was responding to someone else earlier how I hate seeing tornadoes hit structures and homes. Sometimes I am able to stop and help families who have been effected. This situation I felt like I would have been more in the way than anything. So Bob and I decided that we should continue tracking the storm. We do it because we like to witness the amazing power of storms and to also help people out that may be in the path of such an adverse feature.
