Update: Winter Storm for Tue-Wed

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for areas south of a line from Pentwater to Clare beginning at 7am on Tuesday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for counties along a line from Ludington to Harrison beginning at 7am Tuesday. The warnings and advisories are valid through 1pm Wednesday. The storm system is expected to evolve as a phasing of two upper level disturbances occurs near the Great Lakes region by Tuesday. The resulting surface low is forecast to move into northern Ohio by late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The forecast low track is anticipated to stay just south of the Cleveland area by Tuesday night. Model guidance continues to suggest a swath of 6-12″ accumulations across southern Lower Michigan from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. The highest amounts will fall across southern Lower Michigan. The following are storm total accumulations for selected cities:

Ludington 4-7″

Big Rapids 5-9″

Mount Pleasant 5-9″

Muskegon 5-9″

Grand Rapids Metro 6-10″

Lansing 6-10″

Kalamazoo 8-12″

Jackson 8-12″
